Senegal is about to undergo a major transformation in its education system. President Bassirou Diomaye Faye has announced the establishment of a Higher Council for Education and Training. This ambitious initiative aims to fundamentally overhaul the education sector, meeting the pressing needs of a young and constantly evolving population.
The objective is clear: to adapt the Senegalese education system to the realities of the 21st century and the challenges of economic and social development. "In order to ensure better management and optimal coordination of school and university activities, the President of the Republic has decided to create a Higher Council for Education and Training, a supervisory body housed at the Prime Minister's Office which will ensure, with the participation of the stakeholders involved, the monitoring and systematic evaluation of the National Education and Training Program," the Council's press release reads.
The presidential announcement is already generating high expectations. It demonstrates a strong political will to make education a central pillar of Senegal's development.
