MUSEUM OF BLACK CIVILIZATIONS IN DAKAR<\/strong><\/h2>\n

Located in the city center in front of the large theater more precisely at the intersection of the extended highway with the station square, the Museum of Black Civilizations was 7 years after the start of the work it was inaugurated on December 6, 2018 by President Macky Sall . Imagined by President Leopold sedar senghor first president of Senegal<\/p>\n

Architecture<\/strong><\/h3>\n

The museum has a circular shape inspired by the round huts of Africa. It has an area of 14,000 m2 and includes 4 levels and an esplanade. In addition to the exhibition halls, it includes an auditorium with 150 places, reserves and administrative premises, a multipurpose room dedicated to the public and finally a car park with 106 places.<\/p>\n

Schedule and prices\u00a0<\/strong><\/h3>\n

Open Tuesday to Sunday from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. He is closed on Mondays. <\/strong>The prices are very accessible. The entrance is at 2000f<\/strong>\/person for a simple visit and \u00a03000f\u00a0<\/strong>for a guided tour.<\/p>\n

Visit<\/strong><\/h3>\n

As soon as you enter on the ground floor you will be struck by < > <\/strong>12-meter high baobab weighing 20 tons, work of the Haitian Edouard Duval Carri\u00e9 located in the heart of the museum. You will have the opportunity to reconnect with archeology 7 million years old, the skull of the oldest hominid exhumed in the world, nicknamed "\u00a0Toumai<\/strong>\u00a0is exhibited there as well as various skulls and skeletons as well as other stone tools testifying to the evolution of man during prehistory but also metallurgy. At 2and<\/sup>level place at the contemporary art of painting such as the portrait of Toussaint louverture<\/strong>, or the Merge<\/strong>from gonzales and moleiro to sculptures such as "\u00a0tribute to Serigne Abdou Aziz sy\u201d <\/strong>work of Ngary Lo including 12 sculptures including 1 tree whose dimensions vary reaching 3m20. See you in the gallery\u00a0 appropriation<\/strong>african<\/strong>from<\/strong>religion<\/strong>Abrahamic<\/strong>\u00a0We can also see the photo of men and women who have marked the history of Africa such as malcom X, marthin luther king, sheikh anta diop, nelson mandela, winnie mandela, aline sitoe diatta and so on ! Africa is rich in its men but also in its textiles! <\/strong>Discover these typically African fabrics, their origin and their history. Finally, on the last level, there is a room open to the public for ceremonies of all kinds. From the beginning of humanity to the contemporary era, this museum traces the history of Africa.
