The place of African remembrance

Inaugurated in June 2009 and a meeting place for giving and receiving for black people and the diaspora, the place of African remembrance is a framework for the convergence of communication and cultural, scientific and intellectual exchanges, but also for documentation on great historical figures and intellectuals of the black world. It is located on the West Corniche more precisely at the corner of Rue Aimé Césaire and encompasses within it the memory of black peoples, their martyrs, activists and symbols of African dignity. A vast esplanade faces the sea with basins ending with a monumental map of Africa. The esplanade is framed by modern buildings, an auditorium and two pantheons which house the library and exhibition halls. Panels present all the African and diaspora heroes. Every month a large memorial is organized in memory of the great men who have marked the history of Africa and the diaspora. There is a good atmosphere every evening with folklore troupes, urban culture artists and lots of events are organized on the site.
