Ker Thiossane

It started its activities in 2002 in Dakar. In 2003, with the participation of the Daniel Langlois Canadian Foundation for Art, Science and New Technologies, the association opened a digital public space, with the aim of offering activities other than simple consumption – fascination of Internet, disseminated by the many cybers that exist in Senegal. It is a place of research, residence, creation and training. Ker Thiossane encourages the integration of multimedia into traditional artistic and creative practices and seeks to support the crossing of disciplines. Ker Thiossane focuses its activities around research on art and new technologies, and on what they imply in our societies, during residencies, training, meetings and workshops. In 2008, she implemented the first Afropixel festival, which focused on free software in connection with civic practices in Africa and in the countries of the South. Make art, culture and digital creation accessible to everyone via computers and networks such as the Internet. The aim of the house is to:
• Allow the new generation of artists to innovate by giving them access to multimedia tools
• Sensitize the public to new forms of expression and bring it to a better knowledge of African culture and other cultures.
• Animate a place dedicated to social and artistic innovation.
